A Little Bit About Me
Perhaps you want to know a little bit more about who we are, and why we started this recipe website...well, the story
goes something like this:
I started getting interested in nutrition from a very young age, actually probably from when I was first diagnosed with
diabetes at age 11. Since then I have been on a constant search for health and wellness, and I am always interested
to learn about the science of food and how eating affects our health in different ways.

I am not a nutritionist, I don't profess to know everything about food, but I wanted to
create a resource that would help other people on the same journey as me.
Like most 'health nuts', I do feel a sense of wishing everyone could feel just as
healthy, happy and vibrant as I do, and I believe that my diet is the key factor in why I
feel so great and hardly ever get ill!
I don't label myself as anything in particular, I'm not vegan, vegetarian, a raw foodist,
or on any particular diet. I don't cut out anything from my diet: I strive to eat
'consciously', that is, with full knowledge of how what I put into my mouth will effect
me today, tomorrow and for years to come.
I take inspiration from great health leaders and fantastic books and web resources,
some of which you can see on Enjoy Healthy Eating's Healthy Foodie Links page
and on the Food Blogs page too (these are ones for which I actively read every post!)
If you are just starting out on your journey to health, may I suggest reading 'Healthy at 100' by John Robbins, as well
as reading through our Benefits of Healthy Eating article, which lists just some of the fantastic improvements your
body and mind will experience when you adjust your eating habits.
MY SECRETS REVEALED!
I've gone through so many personal transitions, and although I know that everyone works in different ways, I am a
great believer in taking gradual steps to health rather than massive leaps; and I do believe this is the secret to
establishing healthier eating habits and breaking some long-term bad ones too.
If you can change one thing today, and keep it going for the rest of your life, then you are on your way to a new and
improved you! For example, if today you decide that you'll stock non-dairy milk in your fridge for your breakfast, or you
opt for choosing organic apples instead of regular ones at your supermarket, or you order your first delivered local
vegetable box, then that'll be one step closer.
You can read about my food journey on my own personal food blog, Not Just Apples.
